Description

A letter from an unknown author to C.H. Webster in Hibbing, Minnesota. 26 October 1918. The author confirms that Mr. Webster's earlier letter (Object ID: 2017.41.1.1512) has been received. The author states that the cheaper lands in North Whittier Heights have warmer climates and soils that are less deep than the more expensive properties, but that they require less water irrigation. The author estimates that irrigating a full bearing grove will cost about $10 to $15 per acre each year, and that taxes on a 5 acre property would be about $4 to $5 per acre each year. The author clarifies that no orchardists in the subdivision use smudge pots, and suggests that, if Mr. Webster acquires a property, he should purchase trees in the Fall to get better prices. if he decides to buy a property. With severe discoloration/acid burns, pin holes, a minor tear, and a rust stain, the object is in fair condition overall.
