Description
A letter from an unknown author to Chas H. Reid Jr. in Corona, California. 2 March 1914.
A typed, 2 page letter is response to a postcard (object number 2017.41.1.373) requesting information on North Whittier Heights. A descriptive folder will be mailed under a separate cover. This folder will include a map of the tracts as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions of the land. Unplanted land has been divided into 2 to 50 acre tracts and is being sold for $400 to $800 an acre. Several acres have been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges and Marsh Grapefruit. This land has been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acres plots and is being sold for $750 to $1025 per acre. Water will be provided to each plot at actual cost. The estimate cost is 1.25 to 1.5 cents per hour, per miners inch. Several successful citrus growers and nurserymen have invested in North Whittier Heights which shows they have land needed to develop "citrus groves that pay." With the modern townsite, completion of Turnbull Canyon Road and the merit of land, the values are certain to increase. The author invites Chas H. Reid Jr. out to see the property.
The pages have been glued together in the top left corner and a dent on the left side. Page 1 (a) has an acid burn along the top. Page 2 (b) has a crease on the top. This object is in good condition overall.
