Description

A letter from an unknown author to Edna Gedge in Los Angeles, California. 29 July 1914. A typed letter stating that the bill for labor has been received and Mr. Douglas has his figures high for some of the jobs. His charge for plowing is high unless he double plowed the lot. In the matter of hoeing the trees, his time is pretty high as it should take only 1 day to hoe 5 acres and less than one day if a horse is involved. A citrus orchard will run $25 to $30 an acre a year, not including water. This lot has both citrus and walnuts which will make some difference. The author has had Mr. Douglas do work for him and liked his work. The author suggests Edna Gedge talk to Mr. Douglas regarding the cost and see why it is so high. There is a fold in the top left corner, and discoloration on the right side. This object is in good condition overall.
