Description

A letter from an unknown author to F. Sclkinghous in Hermosa Beach, California. 4 June 1914. A typed, 2 page letter in response to a postcard (object number 2017.41.1.529) requesting a descriptive folder for North Whittier Heights. A folder is being mailed under a separate cover. This will include a map of the tract as subdivided, a map of Southern California and showing the location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions of the property. Unplanted land is divided into tracts of 5 to 50 acres and cost $400 to $800 per acre, with cheaper land needing more work before planting. Several acres have been planted to oranges, lemons, grapefruit and walnuts and is being sold in tracts of 5, 10, 15, or 20 acres and costs $700 to $1025 per acre. With the coming townsite and completion of Turnbull Canyon Road, the demand and value of North Whittier Height should increase. Some of the most successful citrus growers have bought land at North Whittier Heights, which shows the merit of the land. The author then provides a list of people who have bought land. The author closes by inviting Mrs. Sclkinghous out to the property The pages are glued together in the top left corner and discoloration on the top and left side. Page one has abrasion damage on the left side. This object is in good condition overall.
