Description
A letter from an unknown author to F.H. De Bolt in Whittier, California. 15 November 1916. A two page, typed letter. In regard to the water dispute between Mr. Bolt and a Zanjero named Lee Gray at North Whittier Heights, the author states that he has discussed the matter with both Mr. Hart and Mr. Gray. According to the author, Mr. Gray agrees that Mr. Bolt's weir needs to be replaced, but he does not feel that Mr. Bolt has been wrongfully charged for the amount of water received. The author explains that Mr. Gray does not work for his employer, the Whittier Extension Company, but rather a separate entity known as the Whittier Extension Mutual Water Company. The author also sees no reason why Mr. Gray would act unfairly. Thus, while the author hopes that Mr. Gray and Mr. Bolt will settle their differences, he clarifies that there will be no action taken by his company. On the issue of Mr. Bolt's desire to join a competing citrus association, the author gives several reasons why such a desire is misguided and why a competitor will likely be unable to organize successfully. With adhesive in the top left corner which is holding the document together, minor moisture damage, and minor acid burns, the object is in good condition overall.
