Description

A letter from an unknown author to F.M. Cagavin in Los Angeles, California. 26 February 1914. A typed, 2 page letter in response to a letter (object number 2017.41.1.371) from F.M. Cagavin requesting information on North Whittier Heights. A descriptive folder will be mailed under a separate cover letter. This folder will include a map of the tracts as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions. Unplanted land has been divided into 2 to 50 acre tracts and are being sold at $400 to $800 per acre. Several acres have also been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, and Marsh Grapefruit. These lands have been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acre plots and cost $750 to $1025 per acre. Some of the most successful citrus growers and nurserymen have invested in North Whittier Heights, which shows that this area will produce "citrus groves that pay." With the modern townsite, completion of Turnbull Canyon Road, and the merit of the land, values will only go up. The author invites Mrs. Cagavin to call on him for more information or to be taken out to see the property. The pages have been glued together in the top left corner, have many tears and pieces missing on the right side, and discoloration on the top and right sides.Page 1 (a) has no other damage and page 2 (b) has creases toward the bottom and the back has an acid burn along the top. This object is in poor condition overall.
