A letter from an unknown author to I.H. Clark in Angola, New York. 16 April 1914.
A typed, 2 page draft letter responding to letters (object numbers 2017.41.1.442, 2017.41.1.443 and 2017.41.1.444) requesting information on North Whittier Heights. A descriptive folder was mailed under a separate cover letter. This included a map of the property as subdivided, a map of Southern California showing the location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions of the holdings. Unplanted land has been divided into 5 to 50 acre tracts and cost $400 to $800 per acre. Several acres have been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges and Marsh Grapefruit. These lands have been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acre tracts and are being sold for $750 to $1025 per acre. Also, 150 acres have been planted to walnuts and are being sold for $700 to $850 an acre. A modern townside is planed for the coming year and the road through Turnbull Canyon should soon be completed which will increase the demand for property in North Whittier Heights. Some of the most successful citrus growers and nurserymen have invested at North Whittier Heights because they have conditions to grow "citrus groves that pay." The author then provides a list of people who have invested so I.H. Clark can contact them regarding the merit of the land. The author closes by offering to take Mr. Clark out to the property when he is in California and to provide any additional information that is requested. There are several corrections in this letter and the top of page 1 states that this sale letter was sent to W.G. Waite of Bellingham, Washington and W.R. Lane of Loma, Montana.
Both pages have been glued together across the top and there is discoloration on the right side. Page 1 (a) has an acid burn on the bottom left corner, a crease across the top, rodent damage on the top left corner, a piece missing from the bottom right corner, a small tear in the bottom right corner, and soiling on the right side. Page 2 (b) has water damage on the right side and soiling on the right side. This object is in fair condition overall.Lexicon
