Description

A letter from an unknown author to Mrs. N.A. Griffis in Toll House, California. 1 April 1915. A two page, typed letter. The author informs Mrs. Griffis that her inquiry about the North Whittier Heights citrus and walnut sudivisions (Object ID: 2017.41.1.779) has been received and that she will be sent the folder she requested. The author lists the prices of unplanted lands as ranging from $450 to $800 and planted lands from $700 to $1025, each acre being alloted a water share with a value of $150. The author notes that he and his constituents may subdivide a townsite on a portion of the property, and that the North Whittier boulevard has been completed. The author suggests that Mrs. Griffis can refer to entities such as the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to determine the merits of the property, or take a tour of the land herself. The author clarifies that there is only one property at North Whittier Heights for sale which has a house; the property is planted to softshell walnuts, has a 5 room bungalow, and is $750 per acre. However, the author also states that he and his constituents would be able to find Mrs. Griffis more options in other locations, and urges her to call his office for more information. With adhesive in the top left corner which is holding the two pages of the document together and some minor discoloration on the right and bottom sides, the object is in good condition overall.
