Description
A letter from an unknown author to Pink Varble in Louisville, Kentucky. 13 July 1918. A three page, typed letter. The abbreviation "GTR:D" near the signature line may refer to Grover T. Russell. Additional text refers to the "Sales Manager for Edwin G. Hart." The author states that Phillip D. Wilson has referred Mr. Varble's letter (Object ID: 2017.41.1.1462) to his office. The author explains that it will most likely be impossible for Mr. Varble to find the kind of citrus property he desires for $3,500 or $4,000 as comparable orchards in the region sell for $800 to $1,100 per acre. The author goes on to list the properties he handles and the price ranges for each one. The author gives additional information about the production value of citrus orchards in the areas of Southern California that he has identified. The author also clarifies that there are other, cheaper lands available which are suited for general farming and decideous fruits, but not as ideal for citrus. The author states that he will send Mr. Varble a descriptive folder of the North Whittier Heights property. The author also confirms that, if Mr. Varble furnishes clients with his office, then they can split the profits from a closed deal on an equal basis. With pin holes; minor and moderate tears; minor and moderate acid burns; minor foxing; minor stains; minor moisture damage; and minor silverfish damage, the object is in fair condition overall.
