Description

A letter from an unknown author to W. J. Henley in Prescott, Arizona. 31 March 1914. A typed, 2 page letter responding to a letter (object number 2017.41.1.305) requesting information on North Whittier Heights. A descriptive folder will be mailed under a separate cover. This will include a map of the property as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions. Unplanted land has been divided into 2 to 50 acre tracts and cost $400 to $800 an acre. Several acres have been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, and Marsh Grapefruit. This land has been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acre tracts and cost $750 to $1025 per acre. All planted land comes with an underground irrigation system and water stock. Some of the most successful citrus growers and nurserymen have invested in the property which shows its ability to develope "citrus groves that pay." With the modern townsite, completion of Turnbull Canyon Road and the ability of the land to produce, the value is only going to go up. The author then provides a list of people who have bought land in North Whittier Heights and invites W.J. Henley to contact them. The author closes the letter by offering to take Mr. Henley out to the property should he be in California, and that he would be pleased to provide any additional information. The pages (a and b) have been glued together in the top left corner, discoloration on the right side, and a small crease in the bottom left corner. Page 1 (a) also has a small piece missing from the bottom right corner. This object is in good condition overall.
