A letter from an unknown author to W.J. Cunningham in Comanche, Texas. 27 January 1914.
A typed, 2 page letter where the author was requested by Mr. N.W. Godbold (in letter with object number 2017.41.1.332) to send a descriptive folder for North Whittier Heights to W.J. Cunningham. This folder will be sent with a different cover letter. The folder will include a map of the tracts as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water, and climatic conditions. The property has been subdivided into tracts from 5 to 50 acres, with unplanted land costing $400 to $800 an acre. Many acres have also been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, and Marsh Grapefruit. This land has been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acres tracts and cost $750 to $975 an acre. Some of the most successful citrus men have bought land which shows they have land that have the land to develop "citrus groves that pay," and the prices for these lands are set accordingly. With the completion of a townsite, a road through Turnbull Canyon, and the ability for the land to produce the value of the land will only go up. The author closes the letter by inviting Mr. Cunningham out to the property when he comes to Los Angeles. There is a note along the top of page 1, indicating this same letter was sent to P.W. Odom in Dallas, Texas.
The pages have been glued together along the top, holes in the top left corner from a straight pin, brown spot in bottom right corner, and there is discoloration on the right side and top. Page 1 (a) also has a stain on the top right corner. Page 2 (b) has no other damage. This object is in good condition overall.Lexicon
