A letter from an unknown author to W.P. McFann in Los Angeles, California. 1 April 1914.
A typed, 2 page letter, responding to a letter (object number 2017.41.1.412) requesting information on North Whittier Heights. A descriptive folder will be mailed under a separate cover letter. This will include a map of the property as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water, and climatic conditions of the property. Unplanted land has been divided into 2 to 50 acre tracts and cost $400 to $800 per acre. Many acres have been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, and Marsh Grapefruit. This land was divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acre tracts and cost $750 to $1025 per acre. Also, about 100 acres of the lower lands were planted to walnut trees and have been divided into 5 acre tracts and sold at $750 per acre. A modern townsite, to be subdivided, is being planned and soon a road through Turnbull Canyon will be completed. Some of the most successful citrus growers have invested in North Whittier Heights which shows the merit of the land. The author closes the letter by inviting W.P. McFann out to the property.
The pages (a and b) have been glued together in the top right corner, and have discoloration on the right side. Page 2 has a small tear on the left edge, and a crease in the bottom left and right corners. This object is in good condition overall.Lexicon
