Description

A letter from an unknown author to William M. Burke in Puente, California. 14 February 1914. A typed letter in response to a letter (object number 2017.41.1.357) regarding Kiddie's claim that he is entitled to a weir per the folder stating water would be delivered to the corner of each 5 acre tract. The author writes that water is delivered to the corner of each 5 acre tract via a gravity system, it does not specify a weir will be built. The contract specifies that a weir will be built every 10 acres where a gravity system is used. The author and Mr. Hart have talked to Mr. Kiddie regarding this. The author then writes that Lot 101 of tract 1953, set to lemons, was sold to William A. Jameson. Mr. Jameson will most likely want a contract for care of his grove for a period of 2 years. Also, Lot 63 of tract 1953, set to Valencia Oranges, was sold to Reverend Coultas and his wife. Lot 77 was sold to Mr. Gilliam, in the name of his wife, May Mather Gilliam. Lot 22 and 23 in Happy Valley were sold to Fannie S. King, who will plant to nursery stock. Lots 14 and 15 in Happy Valley was bought by Jas. S. Locke. The author is assuming he will let the fellow get his vegetable off and will take a share of the crop. Same with Mrs. Corinne Wright, who bought Lots 34 and 35, Ed. W. Hopkins, who bought Lot 33 in tract 2421. There is discoloration on the right side, abrasion damage on the right edge. This object is in good condition overall.
