A letter from an unknown author to William P. Salley in Nordhoff, California. 17 February 1914.
A typed, 2 page draft letter in response to postcard (object number 2017.41.1.358) requesting a descriptive folder for North Whittier Heights. A folder will be mailed under a separate cover letter and will contain a map of the tracts as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions of the area. The unplanted land has been divided into tracts of 5 to 50 acres and are being sold for $400 to $800 an acre. Several acres has been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, and Marsh Grapefruit. These lands have been divided into tracts to 5, 10, 15, and 20 acres and are being sold for $750 to $1025 per acre. Several successful citrus growers and nurserymen have invested in North Whittier Heights show they have the conditions needed to develope "citrus groves that pay." The merit of the land, the modern townsite, and completion of the road running through Turnbull Canyon will increase the value of the land. The author looks forward to hearing from Mr. Salley and hopes to be able to take him out to see the property. There are some correction in pencil throughout the letter.
The pages are glued together in the top left corner, there are holes in the top left corner from a straight pin, and discoloration on the top and right side. This object is in good condition overall.Lexicon
