Description

A letter from Edwin G. Hart to Albert N. Chamness in Richmond, Indiana. 26 February 1914. A typed, 2 page letter copy, requested by Mr. Hamburg, to explain the contract used in the sale of the North Whittier Heights subdivision. The terms of sale are 1/5 cash, 1/5 in 2 years and the balance in 5 years. The contract and deed will have reservations for laying of pipes for water. Also, if ores or precious metals are found on the property, then money will be split among the buyers of North Whittier Heights. Duplicate contracts are enclosed, which Albert N. Chamness needs to sign and return back to Mr. Hamburg with a draft for $912.00 made out to the Whittier Extension Company. Once the contracts are received, the Whittier Extension Company will sign as well and return one back to Mr. Chamness and keep one for their records. By the time the contract is returned, they will be ready to issue the water stock. The water stock will be mailed with Mr. Chamness' copy of the signed contract. Mr. Chamness is to sign and return the water stock to the Whittier Extension Company. The Water Company is a mutual company and the water will cost the actual expense of operations. The company is to produce and supply 1/5 an inch of water per acre. The domestic water system however, will be paid for by the purchasers in proportion of their acreage. This will be at a letter date and will be a small amount, as they only need to pay for the pipes since the water will be coming from the same reservoir and wells as the irrigation water. The pages have been glued together in the top left corner and discoloration on the right side. Page 1 (a) has a dent on the right side. Page 2 (b) has a dent on the left side. This object is in good condition overall.
