Description
A letter from Grover T. Russell to Mr. Hart. 12 December 1916. A three page, typed document. Mr. Russell recounts his past efforts to sell Fidele Amar's 100 acre property in Puente. Mr. Russell states that Mr. Maple had secured an exclusive listing to sell the property at $350 per acre on a 10% commission basis, though Mr. Amar later signed another listing which reduced the price to $250 per acre for one half of the property and $275 per acre for the other. Mr. Russell explains that he and Mr. Maple went to work on finding buyers for the property. Although a deal with Hugh Stewart fell through, Mr. Russell states that other arrangements were made with A. Pascoe. However, Mr. Russell argues that Mr. Amar and Mr. Pascoe tried to make an agreement in secret to avoid paying any commission. Mr. Russell concludes by insisting that he and Mr. Maple are owed commissions on two sales of land made by Mr. Amar, the first to Mr. Pascoe and the second to Mr. Feddersohn. In a postscript, Mr. Russell notes that Mr. Pascoe first bought an orange property on Turnbull Canyon Road and later purchased 20 acres from Mr. Amar. With minor tears, flaking, minor acid burns, a hole, a rust stain, and revisions made in pencil, the object is in good condition overall.
