Description

A letter and envelope from Josie Willik in Puente, California to Laura Temple in Alhambra, California, 6 January 1921. In the handwritten letter (a), Willik expresses her gratitude for receiving a New Year's greeting card from Temples, refers to them as "old friends," and insists that they should see each other in the near future. Willik invites the Temples to her household, suggesting that Mr. Temple (Walter P. Temple) should bring her the next time he travels to their ranch. Willik notes that one of her and her husband's daughters, Florence, is principal of the elementary schools at Taft, while their other two are tending for their own homes. Willik closes by reminiscing about "Lommy" hitting croquet balls as a child. With creases, minor acid burns, and minor foxing, the letter is in good condition overall. The envelope (b) is addressed to "Mrs. Walter P. Temple" and is postmarked for 7 January 1921. With minor discoloration, minor soiling, a tear along its right side, and minor foxing, the envelope is in good to fair condition overall.
