Description

A letter from Martha Alexander to William Workman, 23 June 1852. The missive was from the niece of David W. Alexander, who traveled with Workman from Los Angeles to the United Kingdom (Alexander to visit his native Ireland, Workman his hometown of Clifton, England) in 1851-1852, stopping to take a photo (see item 1.1. of this accession) in New York City. The document refers to the visit made by Alexander and Workman, gifts sent to the latter's wife and daughter, and a promised return by her uncle, as well as Workman and his wife, Nicolasa. With a long tear at the upper right, small stains, light soiling and folds, the condition is fair.
