Description

A letter from Mrs. F.G. Smith in Elma, Washington to Edwin G. Hart in Los Angeles, California, ca. 1917. A two page, handwritten letter. Having seen an advertisement from Mr. Hart, Mrs. Smith gives a detailed description of the properties that she and her husband own near Elma, Washington. Mrs. Smith states that they own a 50 acre farm in the Chehalis Valley which has a house and an orchard planted to various fruits as well as a 5 acre tract with a house. Mrs. Smith values all of this property at $10,000 and would like to either sell or trade for a 2 acre California property that is $4,000 or less. Mrs. Smith specifies, however, that they would want $2,500 in cash. Mrs. Smith also asks whether her sister will be able to find work in California as a helper at an orchard, in a house, or as a caretaker for children. With creases, pin holes, minor acid burns, and minor foxing, the object is in good condition overall.
