Description

A letter from William W. Temple to John H. Temple, 1 December 1916. Written from the Los Angeles County Hospital, the missive implored John to advise their brother Walter to avoid doing business with "that Jew," Milton Kauffman, who, in fact, became Walter's business manager, and to be careful with Standard Oil Company of California concerning a proposed sale of the Temple lease near Montebello. William referred to Kauffman in particularly harsh terms and warned that the oil company had no right to protest any sale, which did not take place as Walter held the oil property for more than a dozen years. With minor discoloration, folds and creases, the condition is good.
