Description

A real photo postcard of a marching band at the Elks Parade, Los Angeles, 1915. The view is taken from a slightly elevated position and shows the band, dressed in white uniforms and dark-colored caps, marching down a street in downtown that is thronged with onlookers. Other marchers are in the background and American flags hang on wires placed across the street. A sign at the upper left for a rooming house gives the location as the 500 block of South Spring Street. There is a message on the reverse that appears to be from a participant, but the card was not mailed. With some stains, soiling and edge abrasions, moderate fading, mainly on the reverse, the condition is overall good.
