A masonic ring for F. P. F. Temple, ca. 1860s. The item is a plain gold band on the outside and has Temple's name engraved in script inside along with the Latin phrase "VIRTUS JUNXIT MORS NON SEPARABIT" ("Whom virtue unites, death will not separate") in block letters. The latter indicated that Temple received the ring in recognition for his reaching the 14th degree of Scottish Rite masonry. There is a break in the ring in the middle of Temple's name which may have been intentional. Traditionally, rings were to be given after the death of the owner to his widow, though the ring passed to the ownership of Temple's son, John Harrison, grandfather of the donor. Aside from the break, the condition is good.
