2021.3.1.49Description
A memorandum of agreement between F.P.F. Temple and Andrew Kittilson, 4 February 1869. The contract concerns having Temple provide up to 200 goats, including cashmere, with 70 so far provided and the range (on William Workman's portion of Rancho La Puente in modern Avocado Heights) for Kittilson to manage for three years, with the latter to pay for expenses, including half the costs in the first year and half of all taxes, in return for half the stock's increase. At the end of the period, Temple was to receive the old stock and, if either party wishes to sell their interest, the other was to get preference. Finally, all animals were to have Temple's brand. The agreement is signed by Temple only with a note that amendments were made and the updated document, signed by both parties, was on file at the bank of Hellman, Temple and Company. With a few stains, edge and fold tears, creases and soiling, the condition is good.Lexicon
