Description
A negative of Compton Gun Shop, Compton, California, ca. 1920s. The view is from the same side of the street and to the right and a sign on the right side gives the business name, that of its owner R. T. (Dick) Whitten, and other information. A sign at the front beneath a window reads "Firearms," a rifle and wording of "Gunsmith" hangs over the door, and the street number "1529" is in two places. The building is amidst undeveloped lots and a large car is moving down the street in front. A Richard T. Whitten resided for years in Long Beach with occupations as teamster, shipbuilder, and machinist, but no indication as to owning a gun shop. The condition appears to be good.
