Description

A pair of Brownie skates (a-c), Los Angeles, ca. 1920s. Thee items consist of a steel base on which the shoe fits and remnants of leather straps are present to secure the shoe to the base. Tied to one skate is a key (c) from the Chicago Skate Company, evidently to tighten the bases onto the shoes for a better fit. The brand name, patent information and note that the skates were made in Los Angeles are stamped where the sole of the shoe goes. The four steel wheels are bolted into place. With scratches, rust, tarnish and wear to the straps, which are not known to be original, the overall condition appears to be fair.
