Description

A pair of snapshots of flood damage in Los Angeles, 1914. The photographs are pasted down on black album paper. The top images shows persons walking on a street filled with debris, apparently rocks, with a few houses in the background. The date "1914" is in ink at the bottom right. The lower photo shows the Los Angeles river, washed-away banks and damage to some structures atop the low bluff. At the bottom is a caption in ink: Old Pigeon farm -- Washed away by / high water 1914." The pigeon farm was a landmark in Los Angeles for years. With some ripples from being glued down, some discoloration and minor soiling, the overall condition is good.
