Description

A PERIMETER FENCE IN A BACKYARD FROM DUBOIS WOVEN WOOD FENCE PAMPHLET Color: Black; White A photograph of a backyard enclosed by a fence from a pamphlet for Dubois Woven Wood fences, ca. 1920s. The horizontal image shows a section of an unkempt yard with patchy sections of grass, a row of stepping stones, a low wall with small potted plants on it and a tree at the back. To the right is a better-maintained area, though it may be on the same property. Portions of larger potted plants and other plantings, a tree, and a wood arbor are at the far right in this section, separated from the barer area by a low woven wood wall topped by a wood rail. The entire area is surrounded by a higher wall of the woven wood. The fencing consists of thin poles with pointed tops, held together by four or five sections of horizontal bracing on the other side, as seen in item .7. In the background, behind the fence is one or a series of two-story brick buildingsas well as some other trees. A caption at the bottom reads "A CITY BACKYARD IS QUICKLY TRANSFORMED WITH DUBOIS." At the lower left is the inscription "Dubois Woven Wood Fence / Made in France," while at the lower right is "Robert C. Reeves Co. / New York." There appears to be little wear or damage to the artifact, which is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
