Description
A personal letter, sent from Los Angeles to Peoria, Illinois, 8 May 1894. The letter consists of 3 folded sheets of paper, pressed flowers and an envelope. The woman writes of her day in Los Angeles visiting friends (naming a few), lunching at the Hollenbeck, meeting a concert pianist, riding the Southern Pacific and local trolleys, taking tourist railroad trips, sewing and sending back capsules with a tonic for the nerves. It is implied that the woman was visiting Los Angeles for health reasons. The second sheet is partially torn at the center, last sheet is completely detached at the horizontal center fold. The pressed flowers have left a stain on the pages but the items are in good condition.
