Description

A photo album of 280 images owned by Albertine DuPuis of Bell, California, ca. 1927. Images are of family and friends, some taken at Los Angeles houses, others at places like Calvary Cemetery, on Whittier Boulevard, at the beach at Seal Beach and some taken in Oregon City, Oregon. On many of the photos, especially at the front, are printed captions that are humorous and descriptive, but there don't appear to be any dates. News images of Charles Lindbergh indicate a date of around 1927, however. There are some loose photos and one loose negative of a photo, probably of the owner, holding a rifle on a railroad track, a print of which is in the front. Born in 1908 in Kohlme, North Dakota, Albertine moved with her family to Los Angeles in the 1920s and resided on Walker Street north of Gage Avenue in Bell (an image of the Huntington Park High football team in the album relates to this) before marrying and moving to the Seattle area. She divorced and remarried living later in San Clemente before dying in Los Angeles in 1994 at age 84. With soiling, stains and rubbing to the covers and photos in varying shape, the overall condition is fair.
