Description

A photo album, ca. 1910-1940. The album includes photographs of Mission Play performers such as Juanita Vigare, Juan Zorraquinos, as well as the play's author, John Steven McGroarty. Agnes Temple is also pictured. Since the whole album is loose leaf, it has been numbered (a) through (tt) from cover to cover. The early pages include pencil inscriptions that identify certain aspects of the photographs, such as the pictured locations, people, and events. The earliest identified date is 1916 while the latest is 1932. The locations listed include San Gabriel, San Diego, Denver, and Salt Lake City. Several photographs show California theaters such as the Rosemary. Sutter's Fort, A photo of two men dressed as women and posed on the yard of a house has become detached from it's respective page (x). The album itself was produced by Peerless Albums. The front and back covers suffer from moderate flaking, cleavages, rubbing, embrittlement, and major oxidation. The covers and pages have minor stains. The pages have adhesive residue and abrasions which indicate that many pictures originally stored in the album are no longer present. Overall, the contents of the album are in good to fair condition, while the covers are in poor condition.
