Description
A photo of a fire burning part of the tent at the Los Angeles Auto Show, M.L. Bailey, 1929. The elevated view shows black and white smoke rising from part of what had been a large tent that served as the venue for the show. Debris, including torched vehicles, are in evidence, as are fire hoses and firefighting vehicles and personnel. There are crowds of observers at the entry area and the adjacent street. The blaze, which occurred on 5 March, came from an electrical circuit in one of the airplane exhibits, and consumed the venue. An electrician and several firefighters suffered injuries, but an estimated 2,500 attendees escaped unharmed. With minor soiling and abrasions, the overall condition is good.
