Description

A photo of a fire burning the tent at the Los Angeles Auto Show, M.L. Bailey, 1929. The elevated view shows black and white smoke rising from what was a large tent that served as the venue for the show. Debris, observers and others are also present and a portion of the entry facade is burned but standing. The blaze, which occurred on 5 March, came from an electrical circuit in one of the airplane exhibits, and consumed the venue. An electrician and several firefighters suffered injuries, but an estimated 2,500 attendees escaped unharmed. With minor soiling and abrasions, the overall condition is good.
