Description
A photograph of a Chinese man with baskets of vegetables, Los Angeles, ca. 1890. The man stands at the center wearing a traditional working man's outfit with a straw hat. In his left hand he holds a scale with a small basket of vegetables at the bottom. He is also holding up a long stick, used to carry two large wicker baskets full of vegetables, presumably for sale. He stands in what looks like a residential backyard with a high wooden fence and surrounded by tall plants. The photograph is yellowed on the reverse, acid burn from adhesives and faded but overall is in good condition.
