Description
A photograph of a man and a woman with a biplane, Los Angeles area, William L. Cross, ca. 1920s. The closeup shows the woman, identified as "Gladis" in the rear cockpit, while a man denoted as "Lionel" stands next to the craft, which is parked at a field. Their names are in pencil on the reverse as is the surname "Roberts" and a stamp for the photographer. The photo might be that of husband and wife team Gladys and Lloyd O'Donnell of Long Beach, with Mrs. O'Donnell being an early female participant in aviation races in the late 1920s and early 1930s. With a missing piece at the bottom right margin and tears intruding slightly into the image at the top and bottom, as well as some soiling, browning of the image, and abrasions on the edges, the overall condition is good.
