Description
A photograph of a man with a Chinese worker, Los Angeles area, ca. 1890s. At the left is a white man wearing a dark suit, white shirt, cravat and narrow brimmed hat and holding a hoe. To the right is the Chinese laborer wearing work clothes and a wide-brimmed straw hat. The two stand on a long driveway flanked with lush landscaping and what may be part of the house behind them, while portions of hills and mountains are in the background. On the reverse is the printed label for Howland and Company, photo suppliers in Los Angeles. With edge rubbing to the mount and fading, soiling, a small stain, and a white line from processing on the photo, the condition is fair.
