Description

A photograph of Mission Play performers posing on and near a train car, ca. 1920s. The black and white photograph features many performers from the Mission Play, including Juanita Vigare, Juan Zorraquinos, and possibly William F. Harrison and Frank Bustamente. Other actors are dressed as Native Americans, Spanish soldiers, Spanish dancers, and a friar. All of the actors are looking outside of the frame apart from Vigare, who is looking directly into the camera. The car appears to be a Southern Pacific train. A stamp on the back side shows that the photograph was published by an establishment called The Photo Shop. Though the bottom half of the stamp is obscured, it is likely the same shop in Alhambra, California which is indicated on other photographs from this acquisition. Another stamp that reads "50" is present. With minor discoloration, a moderate tear, minor stains, and a minor crease, the object is in good condition overall.
