Description
A photograph of "Santa Claus and his Reindeer and Eskimo from Alaska," Los Angeles, December 1925. The image shows the Santa Claus figure standing on a sleigh, which is led by a group of live reindeer accompanied by Eskimos in heavy coats. The procession is part of a parade and is turning west of Ninth Street after coming south on Hill Street. Crowds of persons are along the sidewalk in front of a construction site, from which some workers are watching, at the corner. In the distance left is the Hill Street Theatre building at Hill and 8th streets. The reverse has an ink inscription: "Santa Claus and his / Reindeer and Eskimo from / Alaska. Dec. 1925. / Los Angeles, California." With some water stains causing discoloration at left, soiling and edge abrasion, the overall condition is good.
