Description

A photograph of the Orpheum Theatre, Los Angeles, ca. 1911. The image taken from the opposite side of the street shows the five-story structure at 630 S. Broadway with its covered main entrance, four street level shops, side entrances at either end and upper level offices, while the heavily ornamented facade includes dramatic arches for the top three floors, bas-relief figures and sculpture and the building name in three places. Sidewalk signs, pedestrians, a horse-drawn vehicle and bicycles are also of note. The name of G. Albert Lansburgh is at the lower right and on a typed caption on the album board on which the photo is mounted. With edge silvering, light staining and a stain or two, the condition is good.
