A photograph of the Spanish Colonial Revival residence of Elihu Clement Wilson, Los Angeles, ca. 1926. The 5,326 square foot house built in 1920 at 108 Fremont Place at the corner of Fremont and Ninth is shown from across Fremont and also takes in much of the landscaping on the west and south elevations, including palm trees, bushes, shrubs, a lawn, walks, a circular driveway and a retaining wall. Markings on the reverse include the erroneous attribution as the "H. Clement Wilson Home," a credit to the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and stamps for Culver Pictures, Inc. of New York. Wilson, a native of southeastern Ohio and resident of southeastern Kansas as a child, came to Los Angeles with his family in the 1880s. A professor at Woodbury Business College and an iron works bookkeeper, he became a manufacturer of oil well tools and held patents for plumbing and other iron items. He also constructed the H. Clem Wilson Building at the northeast corner of Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. Wilson was born in 1870 and died in 1950. With the corners apparently trimmed, as well as having some creases, soiling and edge abrasions, the overall condition is good.
