Description
A photograph of three women at Ocean Park pier, Santa Monica, California, ca. 1910s. The women, some of which are in other photos (2016.134.1.45-47) are posed on a pier in Santa Monica. The background shows a ferris wheel, buildings, and a banner that contains an advertisement for Ellen Beach Yaw (1869-1947) concert. Ellen Beach Yaw was a famous opera singer who was said to have a high vocal range. She was known as "Lark Ellen" and would eventually reside in the city of Covina, California. A street in Covina is named after the singer. With photo album residue on the reverse, fading, and warping, the object is in good condition overall.
