Description

A portrait of John M. Stowell, Jr. and two friends, by Lorenz of Los Angeles, ca. 1890s. The image is of the three boys in an upper torso and head view. Stowell, at left, looks away from the camera to his left, while his friends look straight into it. The three wear dark three-piece suits, white shirts and large white bow-ties. The two boys in front have handkerchiefs in their breast pockets. On the reverse is a pencil inscription: "John M. Stowell Jr /at left -- about 15 yrs old / with two friends." With the top chewed by something, dented corners, several stains, soiling and edge rubbing, the condition is fair.
