Description

A postcard of the Puente Oil Company refinery, Chino, California, Los Angeles News Company, ca. 1900s. The view shows three large tanks and structures in a field with a barbed wire fence and tall trees around the site. At the top left is printed information that the photo was taken by the Chino Studio and provides a title of "Large Oil Refinery / Refines Hundreds of Barrels of Crude Oil Daily / Chino, San Bernardino Co., Calif." This was the Puente Oil Company facility, which pumped crude from the Puente Hills property in modern Rowland Heights owned by William R. Rowland and piped the material to the Chino refinery. The unused card has edge rubbing, stains on the reverse and minimal soiling and is in good overall condition.
