Description

A postcard with a photo of the Bimini Hot Springs Hotel, Los Angeles, dated 4 September 1921. The image is taken from the street and shows the two-story Mission Revival hotel with a set-back main entrance and block and two forward-extending wings. A walk, lawns, small trees, and a climbing vine on the inner side of the blocks are also of note. On the reverse is a typed note from a woman to her grandchildren, but does not refer to the resort, which was on Vermont Avenue between 1st and 3rd streets, and operated from 1903 to 1951, with the hotel constructed the year after opening. The hotel is now a substance abuse recovery center. With some stains, notable soiling and edge abrasion, the overall condition is fair.
