Description

Color: Blue; Pink "A Precious Little Thing Called Love," written by Lou Davis and J. Fred Coots, published by Remick Music Corp., 1928. The cover has the title in blue letters at the top. The composers' names are below and to the left, with the notation that the song has a ukulele arrangement to the right. At the bottom, to the right, is the notation that the piece is the theme song from the motion picture "The Shopworn Angel," starring Nancy Carroll and Gary Cooper. At the bottom center is the name of publisher and the company that likely had rights to the film's score. At the center within a floral border is a photograph of the stars of the picture seated on a couch and facing each other--Cooper wearing a military uniform and Carroll a dress with see-through lace shoulders and arms. The song, tuned to a ukulele in the key of D is in a moderato tempo and scored for voice and piano. On the back cover is a portion of a score for another song offered by the publisher. A stamp on the front cover, bottom center, is for the music seller in Nebraska, and a person's last name and the date 1929 are written in ink at the upper right. With these inscriptions, as well as cover creases, dented corners, some soiling, moisture damage, small tears on the back, and some browning of the paper, the artifact is in fair overall condition.
