Description
A press photo of a Japanese geisha chorus in the gardens at Bernheimer Estate, Los Angeles, 1 March 1930. The image shows the seventeen-member group in costume posed on a walkway and lawn near the large pond with miniature reconstructions of Japanese scenes at the estate renowned for its Japanese-inspired architecture and grounds. On the reverse is a typed pasted-down caption describing the visit of the first such group to tour America, which was to appear in New York, though rehearsales were held at the estate. With some stains, soiling, creases and warping, the overall condition is good.
