Description
A press photo of an oil fire demonstration, El Segundo, California, Underwood and Underwood, 25 May 1926. There is a large plume of thick black smoke rising from the demonstration area and a crowd of dozens of observers, as well as a tall tower with a ladder ascending it at the left. A pasted-down caption on the reverse notes that the $50,000 demonstration by Standard Oil of California using a chemical process yielded the extiguishing of the blaze in under ten minutes. With a small stain on the reverse, minor warping, creases and soiling, the condition is good overall.
