Description

A press photo of the Los Angeles house of Jackson Barnett, Keystone View Company, Inc., 6 November 1926. The image shows the two-story Colonial Revival reidence and its detached garage, which stood at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Rossmoore Avenue, from across Wilshire. On the reverse are colored pencil inscriptions noting that Barnett was the "Riches Indian in US." There are also stamps from the publisher and a dated stamp of 6 November 1926 from "Scraparium," a reference to a photo collection, usually at libraries. Barnett was from Oklahoma and was the beneficiary of oil found on his 160-acre section of land. After marrying a white woman, the couple moved to this home until the marriage was annulled on presumption of fraud. With some rust stains, soiling, creases and edge rubbing, the overall condition is good.
