Description
A press photograph of deer in a pen, Selig Zoo, Los Angeles, dated 19 October 1923. The fawn and doe are at a corner of the fenced enclosure on the property, once Selig's film studio and later the zoo, located across from Eastlake (Lincoln) Park in Lincoln Heights. In the distance is a hillside with homes on it and other buildings in the flat lands are partly visible. The reverse has a pencil inscription, "Baby / fallow deer / Three days old / Selig Zoo, Los Angeles." With other markings and a N.E.A. date stamp, the item also has a large missing top right corner, a major crease at the upper left corner, some soiling, and rubbing, and is in fair overall condition.
