Description

A press photograph of Lieutenant A.W. Gorton's plane 6615 used in a hook-on experiment with a U.S. Army air blimp named Los Angeles, 4 September 1929. The photograph was taken with the airplane landed at an airfield in Los Angeles. Gorton, a United States Navy pilot, experimented with flying an airplane and hooking on the trapeze at the base of a blimp, mid-flight. This is a view of the plane used in the experiment, with a partial view of a Glenn Curtiss plane in the background. In the background is a small booth with public telephones for use. The photograph is in good condition overall.
