A press photograph of Los Angeles Mayor George E. Cryer and Frank Barham on a steam shovel, King Features Syndicate, Inc., 20 March 1926. The image shows the men holding levers on the machine with the name of contractors Hodge & McMackin on a placard atop the vehicle. A caption on the reverse notes that the occasion was for a groundbreaking ceremony for the first of 37 tunnels under streets to help children access schools as part of a safety program. With creases, slight warping and light soiling, the condition is good.
